Description
The Cinque Terre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a group of five picturesque villages located on the Ligurian coast of Italy: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. These colourful villages, perched on steep cliffs, offer spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea and are surrounded by terraced vineyards and unspoilt natural landscapes.
Points of Interest:
Monterosso al Mare: The largest of the five villages, it is famous for its sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the sun. Don’t miss the old town with its narrow streets and ancient churches.
Vernazza: Considered the most beautiful village of the Cinque Terre, Vernazza is distinguished by its charming harbour, colourful houses and impressive castle. You can visit the church of Santa Margherita d’Antiochia and enjoy breathtaking views from the path that leads to the village.
Corniglia: Perched on a hill, Corniglia is the only village without direct access to the sea. Here you will find narrow streets, sunny terraces and a quiet atmosphere. The hiking trail that connects Corniglia to Manarola offers breathtaking views.
Manarola: Known for its colorful houses that plunge into the sea, Manarola is an excellent starting point for hikes. Don’t miss the “Via dell’Amore” trail that connects Manarola to Riomaggiore, a romantic path by the sea.
Riomaggiore: This village is famous for its narrow streets and typical houses. The picturesque harbor is perfect for enjoying fresh seafood in one of the local restaurants. The climb to the castle of Riomaggiore offers spectacular views of the sea.
